The palace is a grade A monument, and the museum also runs Sarmizegetusa Regia and Ulpia Traiana.
About the place
The house built here in 1582 by the fortress captain Francisc Geszty was turned into a Renaissance palace after 1615 by Prince Gabriel Bethlen, and in the mid-18th century governor Ioan Haller gave it its present Baroque form. Busts of Horea, Cloșca and Crișan stand in front of the entrance.
Inside are the lapidarium, an exhibition on Dacian life in the Orăștie Mountains and temporary shows such as 'Historical Restitutions. Lost Heritage', open since June 2026. Tickets cost 30 lei for adults and 10 lei for pupils, students and pensioners. A 150-lei pass is valid for 7 days at all the museum's sites, including Sarmizegetusa Regia and Ulpia Traiana.
