It is a listed monument from the 1820s and has served the town's Orthodox community without a break.
About the place
The church was built between 1821 and 1828, under priest Ioan Maximilian, with help from two Serbian captains of the Hațeg border regiment. It is a stone building with a rectangular plan and an apse that does not project from the walls.
The interior was painted in 1928 by Ilie Chidu of Sibiu, repainted in 1980 by Petru Iacobescu of Timișoara and restored in 1994–1995. The church is on Bisericilor Street, next to Unirii Square.
