It is the starting point for the dwarf dinosaurs of the former Hațeg Island and for the rest of the geopark.
About the place
The house is in the town centre on Libertății Street and is run by the University of Bucharest, which manages the Hațeg Country UNESCO Global Geopark. The exhibition 'Balauri, Dragoni, Dinozauri' links local dragon legends to the dinosaurs that lived on Hațeg Island about 70 million years ago.
The centrepiece is a reconstruction of Balaur bondoc by Canadian palaeoartists Brian Cooley and Mary Ann Wilson. There is also a reconstruction of Zalmoxes robustus, rocks, minerals, fossils and a real Late Cretaceous dinosaur egg nest.
