It is one of Romsilva's three wisent reserves and has been running since 1958.
About the place
The reserve was set up in 1958, when the first two wisent, Podarek and Polanka, were brought from Poland. More than 50 calves have been born here since. It is run by the Hunedoara Forestry Directorate, part of Romsilva.
The animals live in a large forest enclosure, and visitors watch them from an area set up for safety. The access road from the DN66 was asphalted in 2021. It holds 4.3 on Google from more than 3,700 reviews.
Good to know
- The access road leaves the DN66 and is paved up to the reserve.
- Do not feed the wisent or cross the safety fences.
- The ticket price is not published officially; ask at the entrance.
